Big news!

Oct 18

It has been a very busy and eventful couple of months for me. Near the end of last month I have had the privilege of partnering up with RGA communications and marketing. In the last month I redesigned one of their existing clients websites using a new CMS. I have also built a handful of websites and even transferred over the company website from Joomla! to WordPress. Needless to say I’ve been a little busy. But it has been awesome. RGA is a great company that does some high-end work and I’m been blessed to be a part of their team. Updates have been pretty slow around here at abrentisart just because I’ve been so busy. Below are some samples of my latest work.

The other day I opened the mail and found this gem waiting for me, the NEW Restoration Hardware catalog. I love this catalog. Amazing furniture, amazing design, amazing photography. Just looking at the cover gets me excited about designing something cool. Lately I have been working with a furniture company but Restoration Hardware has been something I have enjoyed looking at for some time. Why? Because it inspires me! The question I have is “What inspires you?” It can be anything: cooking, action figures, Contemporary architecture, Cars, a leaf, anything with glitter… The reason I am asking is because the things that inspire you are the things that can set you apart. Inspiration has little to do with copying or adding something you like to yourself or business. It’s more like a creative jumping off point to help cultivate ideas, looks, and/or feelings that will help develop and build who you are or your brand. For me, inspiration for a clean design can come from a greasy motorcycle (the trick is not being tied to the object or shape but what it represents to you). Take a look around (visual reminders help me tremendously), pick up new magazines, surf the web (Pinterest does wonders), or take a walk in nature and start to cultivate new ideas no matter how crazy they sound. Get inspired because inspiration is everywhere.

People have been asking “what’s the next big thing?” It’s pinterest. I have to say that I was a little hesitant at first with it but the ease of use and fun to use it has replaced my blog for the better half of a year. People ask “what’s so great about it?” For creative people it’s amazing. All the things that you are interested in become a visual smorgasbord of inspiration that you can browse anytime. Just a couple of minutes looking through my pins and I get fresh ideas for art and design, and I don’t have to go to twenty different blogs to find something interesting.
